
It has served as host to a number of World Class events, most recently hosting current and future Olympians at the 2005 Speedo US National and Junior National Diving Championships. Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics (HFFA) is a world class facility boasting an Olympic sized 50-meter competition pool and diving well. The work of the LNREDC has already attracted the park’s first client, Prairie Packaging, an Illinois-based plastics manufacturing company who is locating its Southeast manufacturing hub in Huntersville.

This past fall construction began on the new North Mecklenburg Industrial Park in Huntersville, a joint venture where each of the three towns will share the revenue and expenses of building the park – a first in North Carolina for this type of economic development venture.

The three towns are unique in their cooperation together and with Mecklenburg County for economic development. The LNREDC seeks to find and prepare new sites as it works to bring new businesses to the area. The Town has worked with the other North Mecklenburg Towns of Cornelius, Davidson, as well as the Chamber of Commerce to create the Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation to help the region attract more commercial and industrial tax base. Huntersville is home to national and internationally known companies and some of the Town’s largest employers are: GE Polymerland, Rubbermaid, Irwin Industrial Tools, Max Daetwyler Corporation, American Tire Distributors, Inc., Presbyterian Hospital, McGuire Nuclear Station, Siegling America, Americredit, Metrolina Greenhouses and Joe Gibbs Racing to name a few.
